Cast Set for ‘The Trap’

Four Atlanta area actors have been chosen for David Rosinger’s film The Trap. The Exhibition Pictures’ short narrative follows the attempt of two young con artists, Jerry and Anna, to perpetrate a scam on elderly couple Fred and Mildred.
Betty

The distinguished actress and director Betty Mitchell will play Mildred. Ms. Mitchell has appeared as Lady Markby in the Lyceum Project’s An Ideal Husband; as Roberta Burke in the Essential Theatre’s Evelyn in Purgatory; as Mama Wheelis in Onstage Atlanta’s Daddy’s Dyin . . .; and most recently as Nat in Newnan Theatre’s Rabbit Hole.

Lee

Cast as Fred is Lee Buechele, familiar to many theatre audiences for his work as Ben Hubbard in Main Street Players’ Little Foxes; as Dr. Larch in Oglethorpe  University Theatre’s The Cider House Rules; as Greg in Onstage Atlanta’s Sylvia; and as Mr. Goodfellow in Georgia Ensemble Theatre’s Inherit the Wind.

Lauren

Lauren Boyd, who will play Anna, holds an MFA in Acting from the New School for Drama. On film she has appeared as Suzy Hazelwood in Delusions of Guinevere; as Polly in The Brazilian; and as Jennifer in the TV series School Spirits.

Borge

In the role of Jerry is Borge Etienne, whose film credits include Roland in My Brother’s Keeper; Mr. Franklin in Starry Nights and Roller Blades; and Rufus in the upcoming Shy’s Way. On stage he played Pervis in Black Man-O-Logues.

Camera and sound will be handled by Thomas Donaldson, who is completing the Broadcast Video Production pathway at Rockdale Career Academy and who is the recipient of several awards, including “Best Picture” at the 2012 Summer Academy at UGA Digital Film School.

Writer-director David Rosinger is responsible for the 2012 documentary The Castle on Peachtree Street, a history of Rhodes Hall in Atlanta.

Principal photography on The Trap begins in June.

 

 

The Trap to film in Decatur, GA

David Rosinger’s short narrative The Trap is slated to film in Decatur, June 10-13. The story follows two young con artists as they attempt to scam an elderly couple. Writer-director Rosinger describes the plot as “part Poe, part Brothers Grimm.” Four actors will be cast in the film.

Open call auditions will be held Tuesday, April 2, 7-9 pm at the Dorsey Theatre, 3593 Clairmont Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30319. (Driving directions here.) Auditions will be a cold reading and no appointment is needed.

“All four parts are principal roles,” Rosinger said. “I’m looking for talent with experience in either theater or film.”

He has provided the following character breakdown:

Mildred, 55-70
Agnes Scott alumna, garden club secretary, former DAR vice-regent, Empty Stocking Fund volunteer, collector of porcelain figurines and other tchotchkes, amateur cake decorator and candle maker. “Well, bless your heart!”

Fred, 55-70
Voted senior high class clown, U.S. Navy vet, Southeastern RV sales champion, amateur magician, amateur stand-up comic, community theater ham-in-residence, go-getter, firm handshake. “Put ‘er there, partner.”

Anna, 18-25
Petite, shy, attractive smile, C+ student, perfect attendance, usher at school plays, celebrity gossip expert, drops out of college freshman year to run away with Jerry. “That’s so sweet!”

Jerry, 25-35
Homemade tattoo at 12, juvenile work farm at 14 for book bag with $1,000 in “merchandise,” prison at 18 for stealing truck loaded with furs, clip joint bouncer, white van speaker salesman, phone fraud operator. “Don’t worry, the insurance company will cover it.”

Payment for this project is $300 per actor per day for four days of filming.
